It was in 1957, under the leadership of the late Reverend Moses L. Jones, that Macedonia Church, came to be. As Rev. Jones health began to fail, he decided to retire in 1965, and in October of 1966 Floyd Taylor was recommended and called to be the Pastor.
It was in January of 1993, under the leadership of Pastor F.L. Taylor, that our current edifice located at 7265 N Teutonia Ave was purchased, and it is here where Pastor Taylor served faithfully until his passing in March of 2004.
After many trials, ups and downs, Minister Rodney Cunningham was called to the Pastorate of the church in June of 2010, where he currently serves as Senior Pastor.
Under the leadership of Pastor Cunningham, affectionately called PRC, the ministry currently has programs designed to support the community and the world. Programs including but not limited to the Macedonian food pantry, adopt a family program, partnerships with families in South Africa, clothing and feeding the homeless, street ministry team, as well as programs designed to empower and educate the youth.
The Lord has and continues to enrich our lives through His Word and our service to Him and His people. We expect to see a revival of the CHURCH with souls being added to the KINGDOM of God, enriching and empowering the people of the God for His service!
Macedonia is a church for all people, where all are welcome, all races and nationalities, regardless of denominational and cultural backgrounds. So, if you are seeking a life changing Word and move of the Lord, if you are looking for a miracle that can only be produced by the Savior, come and visit the Macedonia Church where we still believe to see miracles, signs and wonders!
We are “Stepping into the Kingdom by Stepping Out on Faith.”
1 Corinthians 5:7
It was in 1957, under the leadership of the late Reverend Moses L. Jones, that Macedonia Baptist Church, came to be. The churches first members were Rev. Moses Jones, Brother E. Cartwright, Sister E. Jones, and Sister E. Cartwright. Macedonia was first a storefront located 4th and Cherry. Under the leadership of Rev. Jones, the congregation was small, but as the membership increased, the church then moved to 3rd and Brown.
Then as Rev. Jones health began to fail, he decided to retire in 1965. It was in October of 1966 Floyd Taylor was recommended and then called to be the Pastor. Rev. Jones worked continually with Pastor Taylor after his retirement, until his death.
In 1969 the church brought its first home at 3275 N. Green Bay Ave. With Gods blessings the church purchased a second home in 1978, all under the leadership of Pastor F.L. Taylor. As the church and finances grew, they relocated to a larger facility that had an educational center. That location was 5015 West Center Street. It was there that the church suffered a great disaster. A fire destroyed much of the church, the sanctuary, and the educational building, but God! Even though the church suffered loss, the members were blessed to worship at St. Catherines Catholic Church, right across the street, until destroyed parts of the facility were removed, which took about a year.
It was in January of 1993, that Macedonia moved to its present location 7265 North Teutonia Ave. Pastor F.L. Taylor lead the ministry through ups and downs until his passing on March of 2004.
Minister Rodney Cunningham, who was the churches musician for 20+ years, was double ordained in 2009, by the late Pastor Willie Brooks of Guiding Light Baptist Church and Pastor Mary Hunter (his mother) of Euphrates Pentecostal Church of Holiness. Cunningham was called to the Pastorate of Macedonia Church in February of 2010 and installed on June 27, 2010 by Pastor Al Zollicoffer of Marrietta GA.
Following the leading of our Pastor, we were able to pay off our church in January of 2022. The ministry has since and continues to grow, adding to the Kingdom. We are blessed to have a leader who has a vision to keep striving regardless of difficulties, knowing that God can do all things. Our eyes are fixed on the Lord and as we continue to follow the vision set forth by our Pastor, we will triumph! For we are truly a 1 Corinthians church “Stepping into the Kingdom by Stepping Out on Faith.”
